Exotic and mesmerizing, the delicate circles on this Matahari print remind us of coral reefs and endless atolls. Hand blocked, the expertise it takes to get these circles absolutely perfect is truly a work of art. Printed by Abdul Rahman and his family in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the block must be placed perfectly each time to create this gorgeous print. Pok Mud, as he is affectionately known, has been block printing since he was 18 and we were fortunate enough to watch him work at the Craft Center in Kuala Lumpur where he teaches his art to others. His wife, Azizah expertly dyed the fabric and it was finished by their son, Azizi. (Watch the video below to see Pok Mud and his family at work.). With such a beautiful print, we kept the silhouette simple and easy in our invert pleat long, vneck caftan.
